This interactive timeline chronicles COVID-19's impact on North Carolina and our state's recovery, including major milestones in state projects.

Since 2020, when COVID-19 upended life in North Carolina, we have emerged stronger thanks to the hard work and resilience of our local and state government partners, nonprofits, hospitals, schools, businesses, and individuals. Some of that work will continue through 2026 with the help of federal relief grants provided by the American Rescue Plan Act. 

We hope this timeline serves as a way to honor the past and share progress in building a better future.
